The Greatest Dancer

I worked as Series VT Director on The Greatest Dancer and my job was to oversee the creatives and shoots for all the VT’s and openers on the show. As this was a new show I had to develop the initial concept of what these VT’s were and pitch these ideas to the commissioner.

Series Opener.

I directed the series 2 opener. The concept was a one-shot choreographed dance opener featuring all the coaches and the new receptionist, which flowed through the set, onto the stage and into the studio. I used steadicam to allow the camera to ‘dance’ with the talent and SFX to give it an edge.

The challenge was the very tight one hour window that we had to shoot this whole opener!

 

Live Show VT’s.

For the live show VT’s each dance act was assigned a different challenge theme and part of the VT had to stylistically show this theme. Below are a few stills from these VT’s; James & Oliver with ‘Space’, Ellie with ‘Chandeliers’ and Frobacks with ‘Boxes’.
